Jet Bridge Swap

Pilot

Please refer to CBA 25.M.5 and follow the steps outlined below for processing pilot jet-bridge swaps:

  1. All rest and duty requirements must be met.
  2. Pilots may submit jet-bridge swaps in the pilot trip trade folder OR call crew scheduling (only when it is less than 3 hours prior to departure).If they call crew scheduling, we must talk to BOTH pilots before processing the swap. If less than 3 hours to departure, they will not unreasonably be denied (i.e. processing the request would cause a delay).
  3. After completing the Jet-Bridge Swap, advise the Supervisor so the pairing can be locked on the Pilots’ schedules.
  4. Jet-bridge swaps can take place anywhere in the pairing and are not limited to the first or last leg.However, the split must include the first or last leg of a pairing.

EXAMPLE:A pilot may trade away the first three legs of the trip below and start the pairing in CLE.A pilot may NOT trade away just the second and third leg.



Follow the steps below for a jet bridge swap at the BEGINNING of a pairing:

  1. Modify the pairing on the pilot’s schedule.
  2. Change pairing display from “Local Times” to “UTC Times”
  3. ​

  6. Delete the leg(s) being traded away.
  7. Note:If the leg(s) being traded away is on the first day and is the only segment on the first day, you will need to cancel the pairing and rebuild the pairing for the new report date.
  8. Add a ‘NTR’ line for one hour prior to the departure of the first leg or the pairing.
  9. Add an unpaid deadhead line after the NTR line as follows:
  10. Type “JBS” in the OA column.
  11. Type “DUT” in the Flight # column.
  12. Enter “U” in the Dhd column.
  13. Enter the base city the pairing was built for in the Org column. (DEN, ORD, MCO)
  14. Enter the city where the pilot will begin the pairing in the Dst column. (where the swap takes place)
  15. Enter a Dept and Arrv time of one minute after the NTR time.
  16. Ensure the Block and Credit columns both reflect 00:00.

EXAMPLE:

Follow the steps below for a jet bridge swap on the END of a pairing:

  1. Modify the pairing on the pilot’s schedule.
  2. Change pairing display from “Local Times” to “UTC Times”
  3. ​
  5. ​
  6. ​Delete the leg being traded away.
  7. Add a ‘NTR’ line for one hour prior to the departure of the first leg of the pairing.
  8. Add an unpaid deadhead line after the last line as follows:
  9. Type “JBS” in the OA column.
  10. Type “DUT” in the Flight # column.
  11. Enter “U” in the Dhd column.
  12. Enter the city where the pilot ended his trip in Org column. (where the swap takes place)
  13. Enter the city where the pairing began in the Dst. column.
  14. Enter a Dept and Arrv time of one minute after the arrival time of the last leg.
  15. Ensure the Block and Credit columns both reflect 00:00.


Example:


· Follow the same practice of adding the “JBS” leg when creating a new pairing for the traded leg(s) or adding the traded leg(s) to an existing pairing.

· Jet bridge swaps will show up on the deadhead report and can be disregarded.


The following is an example of a completed jet-bridge swap:

One pilot traded the DEN-ORD leg on 12/23 to another pilot who had an existing pairing.
